The Arizona Outlaws opened their 1986 campaign with a win on the road at Tampa Bay.
Quarterback Doug Williams led the way with a pair of touchdown passes to ex-Bandit
Eric Truvillion as the Outlaws bested the Bandits by a score of 28-21. Both Truvillion
and Al Williams finished with 80 yards receiving respectively.
Williams finished 217 yards passing on 17-0f-32 efficiency with one interception and
one sack.
Tampa Bay led 14-10 at the half as Fred Besana tossed a pair of short touchdowns to
Larry Brodsky and Willie Gillespie. The Outlaws defense intercepted Bandits' pivot
Fred Besana three times, with David Martin returning one for a touchdown to start the
third quarter.
Kirby Warren put the Bandits back ahead after a 13-yard touchdown scamper late in the
third, but a Luis Zendejas field goal and a 33-yard pass from Williams to Truvillion sealed
the win for Arizona.
